Hurley Heads to Worcester

WORCESTER, MA -- San Jose Sharks Vice President and Assistant General Manager Wayne Thomas announced that the Worcester Sharks have signed Brown defenseman Sean Hurley to an amateur tryout agreement.

The 6-foot-3, 211-pound Hurley just completed his fourth season at Brown University where he recorded 19 points (3-16-19) through 31 games his senior year.  Hurley accumulated 79 points through 126 games with Brown along with 115 penalty minutes anchoring the blue line for the Bears.

The 24 year old native of Rutland, VT played one season with the Chicago Steel of the USHL before joining the Brown Bears.  Sean spent two seasons with Northfield Mount Hermon, where he was captain during the 2002-03 season. Hurley was also a member of the Rutland High School football team which won the 2000 Vermont State Championship.

Hurley will wear #4 for the Worcester Sharks and join fellow Ivy Leaguers; Tom Cavanagh (Harvard), Tom Walsh (Harvard), Dennis Packard (Harvard), and Mike Iggulden (Cornell).

The Sharks have just 18 games left in the season, 10 of which will be played at the DCU Center, including two this week!  The Sharks host the San Antonio Rampage on Wednesday at 7:05 on "Fill me up Wednesday." On Friday, the Sharks travel to Lowell for a rematch with the Devils at 7:05 p.m.  With the playoffs on the line, the Sharks travel to Springfield in hopes of clipping the Falcons at 7:00 p.m.
