Big Green Tripped Up by USA U-18's in Finale Preseason Tilt

HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men’s hockey team dropped its preseason finale, 3-0, Friday night at Thompson Arena to the US National Team Development Program (USNTDP).

Team USA goaltender Drew DeRidder was strong all night, posting the 39-save shutout. Several of his stops were of the diving, spectacular fashion in the face of an onslaught of Big Green shots all night.

Dartmouth finished with a 39-20 edge in shots on goal, but the difference was the play of the Michigan State commit in net for the USNTDP, keeping the home team off the board all night.

The US got goals from Patrick Giles and Joel Farabee in the middle frame with the former scoring 17 seconds into the period and the latter coming shorthanded. Bode Wilde added another midway through the third period to seal the win, 3-0.

Farabee actually factored into all three goals, finishing with one tally and two assists. Jack DeBoer had a pair of helpers in the win as well.

Senior netminder Devin Buffalo made 11 saves in 30:53 played in the Dartmouth crease, while sophomore Adrian Clark stopped six and allowed two in his 29:03 of action.

The Big Green begin the 2017-18 regular season next Friday at Holy Cross before opening league play Sunday (Oct. 29) at No. 2 Harvard.
