ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey men’s weekly awards were announced Wednesday, January 1 as Eric Neiley, Dartmouth was named the league’s Player of the Week; Yale’s Alex Lyon was tabbed as Rookie of the Week; while Michael Garteig, Quinnipiac earned Goaltender of the Week honors.
Player of the
Eric Neiley, Dartmouth College
(Junior, Forward - Warminster, Pennsylvania)
Neiley scored twice and added an assist in the Big Green's eight-goal outburst against No. 17 Northeastern Monday night at the Ledyard Classic inside Thompson Arena. He now has nine goals and four assists for 13 points in 14 games, which leads the Dartmouth offense in the first half of the season. The junior forward was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Rookie of the
Alex Lyon, Yale University
(Freshman, Goaltender - Baudette, Minnesota)
Lyon stopped 21 of 22 shots, including, 10 in the first period alone, helping the Bulldogs thwart all three power-play chances in non-league victory over Holy Cross Sunday at Ingalls Rink. He improves his personal record to 4-3-3 in 10 games which he has started for the Bulldogs. Lyon also boosted his save percentage to .917 and bettered his goals-against average mark to 2.29 during the 2013-14 campaign.

Michael Garteig, Quinnipiac University
(Sophomore, Goaltender - Prince George, British Columbia)
Garteig was 1-0-1 with a .936 save percentage and a 0.96 goals-against average at the UConn Hockey Classic. Garteig held on in a 2-2 tie against UMass, stopping 19-of-21 shots on goal. He also recorded two saves in the Bobcats 2-0 shootout win. On Monday, Garteig denied Sacred Heart of all 12 shots on goal for his NCAA-leading 4th shutout of the season in a 5-0 win.
