Haggerty, Perry & Garteig Earn Monthly Awards

ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey men’s monthly awards were announced Thursday, October 31 as Ryan Haggerty, Rensselaer was named Player of the Month; Clarkson’s Steve Perry was tabbed as Rookie of the Month; and Michael Garteig from Quinnipiac was selected as Goaltender of the Month.

Player of  the Month
Ryan Haggerty, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
(Junior, Forward - Stamford, Connecticut)

Supporting Information:
Haggerty leads the entire nation in goals scored (9), goals per game (1.50) and power-play goals (4), He has scored in five of Rensselaer’s six games, including three multiple-goal efforts. He tallied twice in the season opener against Sacred Heart, had a pair of goals in a win at nationally-ranked Boston University and notched a hat trick, the first of his career, in a rematch with the Pioneers. Two of Ryan's goals have been game-winners, which is second in the nation.

Rookie of the Month
Steve Perry, Clarkson University

Supporting Information:
Perry is undefeated to start his collegiate career with a 3-0-1 record with two shutouts in first four games. He is listed among the top six goaltenders in the country with a 1.20 goals-against average (5th), a .948 save percentage (6th) and two shutouts (tied 1st). Perry became first Clarkson goaltender in 27 years to record a shutout in his collegiate debut, blanking 2-0 Niagara in Western N.Y. (10/6) with a 30-save effort. He also shut out Colorado College with 18 stops in 1-0 overtime win (10/26). He has helped to lead Knights to best start in seven years at 6-1-1.

Goaltender of the Month
Michael Garteig, Quinnipiac University

Supporting Information:
Garteig compiled a NCAA Division I leading 418:05 minutes across a national-high seven games. Garteig also leads the country with six wins, while his 1.72 goals-against average ranks 13th. Of the three ECAC Hockey goalies to start five or more games, Garteig leads the trio in shots faced (134), saves (122), and GAA (1.72). Garteig also boasts a .857 winning percentage (6-1-0), and is currently on a six-game winning streak and has allowed two or fewer goals in five of his seven games this year.
