Weekend Update: Road Sweet Road
ALBANY, N.Y. - In 2010-11 seven of the 12 ECAC Hockey
men’s ice hockey teams posted records of .500 or better on
the road in conference play. Last night teams followed that pattern
as the visiting team won five of six contests and tied in the other
game. All of the games were decided by two goals or fewer last
evening with the exception of Colgate’s 4-0 shutout win at
Dartmouth.
Brown 2 at No. 9/9 Union 1
*Bears senior forward Jack Maclellan scored a pair of goals 3:55
apart during the last four minutes of the first period to help
erase an early 1-0 deficit.
*Freshman Dutchmen goaltender Colin Stevens stopped 21 of 23 shots,
while Brown's Matt Clemente stopped 24 of 25 shots to improve to
3-2-0 on the year.
*The loss was only the second for the Dutchmen in their last 22
regular season home games at Messa Rink (16-2-4).
No. 18 Colgate 4 at No. 14/17 Dartmouth 0
*Eric Mihalik recorded 30 saves to earn his first career shutout to
lead the Raiders to a 4-0 win over Dartmouth in a battle of ranked
teams at Thompson Arena Friday night.
*The all-time series between Dartmouth and Colgate is now tied at
42-42-5.
*Colgate is perfect this season when leading after two periods
(5-0-0). The Raiders scored first for the fourth time this year and
are 4-0-0 in those games
At No. 19 Quinnipiac 1, Clarkson 1 (ot)
*Quinnipiac outshot Clarkson, 44-11, including a 21-2 edge in the
third period in the tie.
*Clarkson was 0-of-5 on the power-play, while the Bobcats were
1-of-7 with the man-advantage.
*Quinnipiac remains unbeaten (4-0-1) at TD Bank Sports Center this
season.
Cornell 4 at Harvard 2
*Junior Nick D'Agostino scored a pair of power-play goals 56
seconds apart in the first period to help the Big Red in posting
the victory over Harvard at Bright Hockey Center.
*Cornell has outshot its opponents in its first four games of the
season, including the 26-20 edge last evening against Harvard.
*Harvard junior forward Alex Fallstorm has recorded points in the
each of the Crimsons first three games (1G, 3A).
No. 10/13 Yale 2 at Rensselaer 0
*Junior goalie Jeff Malcolm registered his second straight shutout
by stopping all 27 shots in the Bulldogs league win over Rensselaer
at Houston Field House.
*Yale (2-1-1)âhas netted two goals in all five
regular season games thus far this season.
*Last night’s loss for the Engineers was the first on a
“Black Friday,” dropping their record to 6-1-1 in those
games.
St. Lawrence 3 at Princeton 2
*Saints netminder Matt Weninger finished with 35 saves, 15 of them
in the third period and has now stopped 83 of 86 shots in his last
two games in Baker Rink. He has allowed two goals or less in each
of his last three starts.
*Sophomore forward Greg Carey recorded his first multi-goal game of
the season last night. He registered eight multi-goal games in his
rookie campaign last season for St. Lawrence.
*Princeton outshot St. Lawrence 37-20, helped along by a 17-5 shot
differential in the third frame.
