Weekend Preview: Looking to Make Their Mark

ALBANY, NY - Entering the third weekend of ECAC Hockey play eight teams are in action facing one another in League contests, while two other squads participate in non-conference showdowns.  

Dartmouth /Harvard at St. Lawrence/Clarkson
*The Golden Knights lead the series against Harvard, which began with a 2-1 Clarkson win in Lake Placid on December 28, 1935, 50-48-11. The Crimson, however, have gone 4-2-2 in the series over the past three seasons, including victories in the last three meetings.
*After scoring 34 goals through the first nine games, Clarkson has struggled offensively with just two goals over the last three contests.
*The Saints, coming off their first League road sweep since February of 2009 with wins at Princeton and Quinnipiac, will be out to add to a three game win streak in League play with this weekend’s set.
*SLU leads the all-time series 52-29-2 ,but Dartmouth has won the last four in a row with a 6-1 win in its last visit to Appleton and a 4-2 win in Hanover last February.
*This is will be first road games of the season for both Dartmouth and Harvard. In the 2010-11 season the Big Green posted a 6-5 road mark in League play, while the Crimson were 3-8.
*The Big Green are three (3) wins shy of 1,000 in program history (997-1,061-106).
*Harvard has 16 players which have recorded a point on the season thus far, with Alex Killorn leading the way with three goals and two assists in the Crimson’s first four games.  

Princeton/Quinnipiac at No. 17 Colgate/No. 18 Cornell 18
*The Big Red has scored 21 goals over its first five games to start out with a 3-2 record, ranking third in the nation in scoring offense with 4.20 goals/game.
*Cornell has held a lead in the third period of all five of its games played this season.
*The Raiders have gone into the third period with a lead in five games this season and have won all five games.
*Quinnipiac has played the most games this season than any other conference team as the Bobcats are 7-4-2 in 13 games this year.
*Quinnipiac’s Jeremy Langlois (10 goals) and Colgate’s Austin Smith (10 goals) are two of five players in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey to have tallied double-digit goals to date.
*Both of Princeton wins this season have come in a game following a loss.
*One-half of Princeton 18 goals have come from its special teams. The Tigers have scored nine even strength goals, seven power-play goals, one empty net and one extra attacker goal.

At No. 9/9 Yale, Connecticut
*Yale has won all eight meetings with UConn while outscoring the Huskies 49 to 17.
*Bulldogs senior forward Dan Otto notched his first two collegiate goals last Saturday at Union after battling injuries the last three years that prevented him from playing a regular season contest.
*Yale has outscored opponents 14-9 this year with six goals in the middle frames.
*The Huskies own a 4-4-2 overall record this season with one win coming on the road at Army on Oct. 14.

Brown at Army
*Brown’s senior forward Jack Maclellan leads the team in scoring with three goals and three assists while Massimo Lamacchia has three goals and an assist.
*Mike Clemente has played all six games in goal and has a .908 save percentage and 2.36 goals-against average for the Bears.
*Army posted its first win of the season last weekend at Sacred Heart and enters the weekend 1-5-2 overall.
*Army played three nationally ranked teams in its first four games of the 2011 season.
