Preseason All-League Team Features Leaders

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The 2011-12 coaches’ preseason all-league team is made up of five positional student-athletes who ranked near the top of scoring leaders among their teams last season and a goaltender that was at the top of nearly every league statistical category last season.  As voted on by the league's 12 head coaches, players from five different teams  - Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard, Rensselaer, and Yale make-up the preseason all-league team.

James Mello - Dartmouth - Goaltender

Played 30 games in goal last season, all of which he started ... Had a 17-9-3 record with a 2.21 (GAA) and a .926 save percentage overall ... Made 799 saves on 863 shots in 1736:45 minutes ... Played in 21 League contests, all as a starter ... Was 12-7-2 with a 1.93 (GAA) and a .938 save percentage ... Made 499 saves on 543 shots in 1166:19 ... Ranked second in goals- against average and save percentage and fourth in win percentage in 2010-11.

Nick Bailen - Rensselaer - Defense

The junior recorded five goals and 15 assists for 20 points in 22 ECAC Hockey contests earning first team all-conference honors ... Among national leaders, ranking fourth in points per game by a defenseman (0.97) ... Among ECAC Hockey leaders, ranking first in defenseman scoring, third in assists and power-play points (3-17-20) and 10th in points in 2010-11 ... In 22 conference games, he was second in the league in defenseman scoring (0.91).

Danny Biega - Harvard - Defense

Second-team ECAC Hockey all-league  selection in 2010-11 ... Received the John Tudor Memorial Cup as Harvard's most valuable player last season ... Led Harvard in points (30) and assists (19) and tied for second in goals ... One of three defensemen in the nation to lead his team in scoring and the only one to also rank among team's top three in plus/minus (+2) ... Led defensemen in points (21) and goals (nine) and ranked second in assists (12) in 22 league games.

Jack Maclellan - Brown - Forward
Named a captain for the upcoming season ... Became one of the Bears’ most dangerous offensive threats and a key member of both the power-play and penalty kill ...  Also one of the top faceoff men on the team and was second in both total wins (427) and winning percentage (.547) ... Played in 36 of 37 games and finished as the Bears’ leading scorer with 34 points (15g, 19a), all career-highs ... Also led the team with three short-handed goals and two game-winning goals.

Andrew Miller - Yale - Forward

Coming off a productive sophomore campaign being named to the First-team All-ECAC Hockey last season ... Led team with 33 assists, second most at Yale and a sophomore record …  Second with 45 points… Led ECAC Hockey in assists and was fifth in Division I … 22 of his 33 assists were primary passes … Points in 27 of 36 games … 12 multiple-point outings … Pair of 4-point games … Named to the ECAC Hockey All-Tournament team last season.

Brian O’Neill - Yale - Forward

Named to the ECAC Hockey First-team  and ECAC Hockey All-Tournament team in 2010-11 … Led team with 20 goals and 46 points as a junior ...  Ranked 15th nationally with 1.28 points per game and 21st with .56 goals per game … Was spark in Yale’s top-rated offense last season which netted  in 3.82 goals per game ... In 22 league games he was third in scoring (1.14 PPG), second in goals (12), tied for fourth in power-play points (6-5-11), and first in power-play goals (6).
