ALBANY, N.Y. -- ECAC Hockey is proud to announce that the League and Fischer Hockey have agreed to a one-year partnership for the 2011-12 season.

“We are extremely pleased to partner with Fischer Hockey this season,” remarked Commissioner Steve Hagwell. “It is a privilege to work with a strong brand such as Fischer as it builds its market in North America. We look forward to establishing a concrete relationship.”

As part of the arrangement both the newly created men’s and women’s ECAC Hockey Monthly Awards will now be named:  Fischer Hockey/ECAC Hockey Player of the Month, Fischer Hockey/ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Month, and Fischer Hockey/ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month.

“It is an honor to partner with ECAC Hockey, as we embark on our journey in North America to introduce Fischer’s company and lines of sticks,” commented Dave Tripodo, General Agent, Fischer Hockey. “We look forward to working with the various teams in ECAC Hockey and introducing our outstanding products to all student-athletes.”

Headquartered in Austria, Fischer Sports has been in business for over 80 years. It is
the leading manufacturer of ski equipment and other sporting goods in the world and has a strong brand recognition, as well being known for its innovation and technology. It is this brand name and technology which has been applied to the Fischer brand of composite hockey sticks. Fischer sticks are widely used throughout Europe and Russia and have many professional players in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) and European pro leagues using their sticks. Fischer Hockey is also the official supplier of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

One of the key advantages to Fischer sticks versus the other leading brands is “Cap Technology.” This technology is currently being used in its world famous ski equipment and utilizes a thin foil wrap around the shaft. This is the same foil which is used to wrap Fischer skis. This is a patented process and used only by Fischer at its manufacturing plant in the Ukraine. Fischer Hockey’s recent studies have compared its composite sticks to the other leading brands in the market and the results have shown its “Cap Technology” to produce a stick which is less likely to break and is stronger than the other brand sticks by up to 30%. Fischer Hockey also offers an exciting lines of shafts and blades.
