Tigers Tie No. 6 Yale in Season Opener

HANOVER, N.H. (10/28/11) - The Princeton men's hockey team played to a 2-2 tie with No. 6 Yale in the season opener at Dartmouth in the Ivy Shootout on Friday, Oct. 28.

All four goals were scored in the second period with junior Rob Kleebaum scoring the game-tying goal on a back end into the top corner at 19:28.

Junior Michael Sdao put Princeton on the scoreboard at 4:16 with a long shot that took a bounce past Yale goalie Jeff Malcom. Four minutes later, however, Yale's Nicholas Weberg deadlocked the game again with a goal.

Brian O'Neill gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead with a short-handed 4x5 goal at 16:25.
Sophomore netminder Sean Bonar made 28 saves for the Tigers,making five of those stops in the five minute overtime period. Malcom finished with 26 saves for the Ellis.

Yale had a 30-28 edge in shots, but Princeton had the upper hand in the second (14-9) and in the third (9-3) periods. Both teams were 0-for on the power play.
 
Princeton (0-0-1) will play Brown in the third game of the Ivy Shootout tomorrow at 4 p.m., at Thompson Arena. The Bears take on Dartmouth in the second game tonight.
