ITHACA, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey
team lost to No. 18 Cornell, 4-0, in an ECAC Hockey match-up at
Lynah Rink. Three second-period goals by Cornell helped the Big Red
improve to 5-2-0- overall and 5-1-0 in ECAC Hockey while Quinnipiac
drops to 7-6-2 overall and 1-4-2 in league play.
Colgate's Nick D'Agostino broke a 0-0 tie 3:12 into the second
period when he received a pass above the left face-off circle from
Joakim Ryan, skated in on Quinnipiac goalie Dan Clarke (Belleville,
Ontario) and roofed a shot over the goalie's right shoulder to give
the Big Red a 1-0 lead.
At the 7:50 mark of the period, John McCarron took a pass from Joel
Lowry and fired a shot through traffic on net where Sean Collins
was sitting just outside of the crease. Collins tipped the puck to
the far post past Clarke to give Colgate a two-goal lead. John
Esposito's power play goal with less than two minutes to play in
the period sent Quinnipiac into the second intermission trailing
3-0.

of play while Big Red goalie Andy Iles stopped 32 shots in the game
