Engineers Blanked at Ferris State

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Travis Ouellette scored twice and Taylor Nelson stopped all 17 shots he faced as the Ferris State men's hockey team defeated Rensselaer, 4-0.  The game was scoreless late in the second period before the Bulldogs tallied.  They added three third period goals to improve to 3-0-0.  The Engineers, who got 26 saves from Bryce Merriam, fall to 1-2-0.  The same two teams meet again on Saturday night.

Ouellette notched the eventual game-winning goal with just 1:17 left in the middle period.  He then scored again, this time just 1:15 into the third period, for a 2-0 advantage.  The goal was his fifth of the season.  Bonis also has five goals in three games this year after tallying at 5:45 and 17:16.

Taylor stopped seven shots in the first period, seven more in the second and three in the third for the victory.  For RPI, which has been shutout in two of its first three games this season, Merriam had eight saves in the first period, seven in the second and 11 in the third period.

The same two teams meet again on Saturday night.
