HAMDEN, Conn. – Zack Currie (Victoria, British Columbia) scored two of Quinnipiac's goals for his first career multiple-goal game while Kevin Bui (Edmonton, Alberta) scored his first career goal as the men's ice hockey team defeated Princeton, 3-2, in an ECAC Hockey match-up at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center. The Bobcats improve to 11-6-3 overall and 3-4-3 in ECAC Hockey play while the Tigers drop to 4-9-1 overall and 3-7-1 in league play.

Yuri Bouharevich (Montreal, Quebec) and Scott Zurevinski (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) both had assists to run their point streaks to five games, while Clay Harvey (Gull Lake, Saskatchewan), Russell Goodman (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and Reese Rolheiser (Edmonton, Alberta) all had assists.

Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) was spectacular in goal, stopping the first 34 shots he saw in the game to hold Princeton scoreless until there was five minutes left on the clock. The game marks the eighth straight start for Hartzell in which he's held the Bobcats' opponent to two or fewer goals. Hartzell finished with 35 saves to improve to 5-3-3 on the season.

Quinnipiac took a 1-0 lead when Currie scored at the 10:27 mark. The puck was wrapped around the boards before Clay Harvey (Gull Lake, Saskatchewan) picked it up behind the Princeton net. Harvey poked it out from behind the goal and up the boards where Yuri Bouharevich (Montreal, Quebec), tangled up with a defenseman along the boards, was able to direct the puck to Currie who blasted a shot on goal through traffic, between Princeton's Mike Condon's pads, to give the Bobcats a one-goal lead through the first period.

In the second, Kevin Bui (Edmonton, Alberta) scored his first collegiate goal at the 4:45 mark of the period. Bui knocked the puck loose in the neutral zone, sending it up ice. The fourth-year Bobcat won the race to the puck and attempted to center a pass to Reese Rolheiser (Edmonton, Alberta), but the puck was deflected and sent into the air. Rolheiser's attempt to bat the puck out of the air was stopped by a lunging Condon and deflected to the left of the goal. Bui picked up the rebound and flipped a shot onto Condon's left leg before collecting the puck and burying a shot to give Quinnipiac a two-goal lead.

At the 5:59 mark it was Currie again, this time with assists going to Russell Goodman (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and Scott Zurevinski (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan). Goodman had the puck behind Princeton's goal, where it was knocked loose as he tried to skate around a defender. Zurevinski poked it back over to Goodman, who spied Currie at the point and sent the puck between the face-off circles. Currie's one-timer beat Condon, glove-side, to give Quinnipiac a 3-0 lead.

A pair of Princeton goals late in the third period put a scare into Quinnipiac. Princeton's Mike Sbao put the Tigers on the board late in the third when one-timed a pass from Aaron Kesselman past Hartzell to trim Quinnipiac's lead to two goals, 3-1, with just over five minutes to play in the game. Kevin Ross was also credited with an assist. Andrew Calof added his fourth goal of the year with just over a minute to play, with assists going to Tyler Maugeri and Marc Hagel.

Quinnipiac returns to action on Dec. 30-31 when it travels to Omaha, Neb. to face Nebraska-Omaha in a two-game series. The Bobcats will then play at Yale on Jan. 6 and Brown on Jan. 7 before returning home to host Cornell and Colgate on Jan. 13-14 at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center.
