TROY -- Three of the top 12 college hockey teams in the national polls will be on Capital Region ice the next two nights, including No. 1-ranked Yale University, in one of the most significant weekends of the ECAC Hockey regular season for both RPI and Union.
Yale, which leads the ECAC standings with an 11-1-0 record (17-2-0 overall) and sports the nation's top offense (4.79 goals per game) plays at 12th-ranked Union on Friday. Meanwhile, 10th-ranked RPI (7-5-0, 15-6-3) plays host to unranked Brown before the visiting teams switch sites on Saturday.
Brown may be only 5-6-1 and in ninth place in the league, but the Bears are the only team to have posted a conference win against Yale. And if RPI needed any extra incentive not to look ahead to Saturday's game with the Bulldogs, the memory of Brown having knocked the Engineers out of the ECAC playoffs last March should suffice.
