Halloween Hockey at the Lake Placid Olympic Center
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- It promises to be a scary
good time when Division I men’s ice hockey returns to the
famed 1980 Herb Brooks Olympic Arena, in Lake Placid, N.Y., when
ECAC Hockey rivals clash in the Halloween Face-Off Hockey Match-up,
Saturday, Oct. 30. Clarkson, St. Lawrence, Union and RPI will
each look to trick their rival schools and treat themselves to
early season wins during the Halloween weekend.
“As for Lake Placid, it’s going to be a great
event,” said Union head coach Nate Leaman. “As a
coach I participated when the league held the championship weekend
there. It is a special place to play hockey and I think
it’s going to be a special place to watch hockey for our
fans.”
Last season, the Dutchmen skated to a school record 21 wins,
including 12 in League play en route to the conference’s
championship game. They will open the two-game match-up when
they face-off against RPI at 4 p.m. RPI returns 21 players
from last year’s squad that skated to a 10-9-3 conference
mark. The game will be the first of three between the two
schools during the 2010-11 season.
The 7:30 p.m. game pits two north country rivals -- St.
Lawrence and Clarkson. The Saints were 9-8-5 in ECAC Hockey
play last season, while Clarkson’s Golden Knights picked up
four wins against conference foes in 2009-10. The two schools
are also expected to meet at least three times this season.
Tickets are on sale by calling the Olympic center box office at

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for juniors, seniors and
students if purchased by Sept. 30. After Sept. 30, admission
will be $20 for adults and $15 for juniors, seniors and students.
Fans that come dressed in Halloween costumes will have the chance
to win great prizes.
