ALBANY, N.Y. -- ECAC Hockey announced today it will commemorate the League’s 50th anniversary throughout the men’s 2010-11 season. With a noteable history that proudly enters into its 50th anniversary season, ECAC Hockey has truly defined a distinctiveness for accomplishments on and off of the ice.
ECAC Hockey has been home to seven NCAA men’s championship teams, witnessed over 15,000 games, produced more than 500 National Hockey Leaguers, nearly 300 All-Americans, three Hobey Baker Memorial Award winners, and over 1,100 student-athletes who have earned All-Academic honors since 1999-00, the first year the League recognized these individuals.
As part of the recognition of the historical season, the League will implement several promotions commemorating the special season, including the creation of a 50th anniversary logo, which will serve as the League’s primary logo used for men’s games. This logo will be worn in the form of a patch on all 12 of the teams’ jerseys and officials’ jerseys during the 2010-11 campaign.
The League is finalizing plans to administer several other promotions that will be staggered throughout the course of the season. These promotions will be announced at opportune during the celebrated season.
