Long-Time Rivals to Face Off at Prudential Center

The Colgate and Cornell men's hockey programs have announced that they will be facing off November 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

The game is set for 7:30 p.m. at the home of the New Jersey Devils. The matchup will not affect any ECAC Hockey standings because the game will be considered a non-conference game for both sides.

“We are delighted to be able to welcome current students, as well as the large number of Colgate and Cornell alumni in the area, to Prudential Center to experience the excitement of college hockey,” said Jeff Vanderbeek, Chairman and Managing Partner of the New Jersey Devils. “Hosting college hockey is something we’ve always wanted to do, and we’re looking forward to beginning a tradition with this exciting rivalry.”

"We are thrilled to partner with fellow ECAC Hockey member Cornell and the great management team at the Prudential Center to bring Division 1 College Hockey to the home of the New Jersey Devils, Newark, New Jersey and the greater New York City area,” said head coach Don Vaughan. “To play this game in one of the best venues in the world against a rival like Cornell is something that our alumni, season ticket holders and general hockey fans alike will not want to miss.”

"This is a really great opportunity for our kids to play at the Prudential Center," said Cornell head coach Mike Schafer. "Any time you get a chance to play in an NHL facility, it's exciting for everyone involved, and our players are excited about the opportunity. It's a great chance for Cornell and Colgate alumni and youth hockey players in the area to see an outstanding college hockey game. We're excited to play Colgate in what should be a really good matchup."

Tickets are going on sale this Friday, October 8. Prices will range from $38 to $49 for adults, while Cornell and Colgate students can purchase tickets for $15. Fans can purchase tickets through their respective school's box office.

“Both schools have large alumni networks in the area and we hope that many will want to get out after the Thanksgiving Holiday to enjoy college hockey at its finest,” stated Vaughn. “We already have a number of alumni functions and gatherings planned around this game. If you are a true hockey fan then mark November 27 on your calendar.”

Raider fans can purchase their tickets at the Colgate Ticket Office or by calling (315) 228-7600.
