Yale, Union & RPI Seeded in Both Polls
ALBANY, NY – Yale, Union, and Rensselaer have been selected to a spot in both men’s national polls released Monday, November 29, 2010. Yale moved to the No. 2/2 position, Union now sits in the No. 13/13 spot, and Rensselaer jumps to the No. 15/16 position.
Yale continues to boast the nation’s top winning percentage have won eight of nine games (8-1-0) for a .889 winning percentage. The Bulldogs downed visiting Sacred Heart, 5-1 last weekend. It marked the seventh time in nine contests that the Bulldogs have scored at least five goals in a game. Yale has three of the top 15 scorers in the nation on their roster and it leads the nation in scoring offense as a team (5.22 G/GM). In this week’s USCHO.com poll Yale has earned 901 points and jumped one spot to the No. 2 position tied with Boston University. The Bulldogs moved up one two spot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll as well to the No. 2 position (454 points) from the No.3 position last week. Yale puts its 5-0-0 home record on the line this weekend welcoming nationally-ranked travel partners Rensselaer Friday and Union Sunday, televised on ESPNU.
Union, 7-2-3 overall, was once again idle last weekend. The Dutchmen remained in the No. 13 position in the USCHO.com poll (404 points) and fell one spot to the No. 13 spot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll (126 points). This marks the 22th consecutive week that Union is nationally ranked, extending its school record. The Dutchmen own the nation’s best power-play unit with a success rate of 37%. Union resumes play this weekend (December 3-5) when it travels to Brown, unbeaten in its last four games and Yale, unbeaten in its last three games.
Rensselaer, coming off a dramatic RPI Holiday Classic championship by edging Connecticut, 6-5 and downing Bowling Green, 3-2 in overtime, continues to climb the polls. RPI moves up one spot in the USCHO.com poll (231 points) from No. 17 to No. 16 and makes its debut in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll at No. 15 (20 points). The Engineers showcase one best scoring defenses in the nation (2.08 G/GM) having only given up 27 goals in 13 overall games. The Engineers will also face the challenge of taking on two hot teams in League play by facing-off against Yale Friday and Brown Saturday. .
Brown, Clarkson, and Dartmouth all received votes in the national polls this week well.

The 16th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the five NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
The USCHO.com/CBS College Sports XXL Poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country.
