Teams Continue to Climb
ALBANY, NY – Three ECAC Hockey teams appear in the latest 2010-11 college hockey polls released Monday, November 8, 2010. Yale has climbed to the No. 3/4 spot, followed by Union, working its way up in the rankings, in the No. 12/12 position; and Rensselaer maintaining the No. 18 position.
Yale improved its record to 4-0-0 by recording its first two League wins of the season last weekend. The Bulldogs offense was once again in high gear, as they bettered Princeton, 5-3 Friday and breezed past Quinnipiac, 5-1 Saturday. Yale earned five first-place votes in the USCHO.com and 863 total points moving up to the No. 3 spot from the No. 5 spot. The Bulldogs moved up two positions in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll to the No. 4 (423 points), acquiring two first-place votes. Yale will take to the road this weekend in non-conference action playing at Colorado College Friday and at Air Force Saturday.
Having extending its unbeaten streak to a nation’s current second best seven (4-0-3) games, Union continues to earn the respect on the national level. The Dutchmen posted a 2-1 win at Harvard Friday and played Dartmouth to a scoreless, overtime tie Saturday. The Dutchmen vaulted from the No. 15 spot to the No. 12 position (421 points) in the USCHO.com poll and jumped two spots in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll to the No. 12 position (124 points). This marks the 19th consecutive week that Union is nationally ranked, extending its school record. Union will face Capital District rival Rensselaer this weekend in League action.
Rensselaer, 4-2-3 on the season, maintained its No. 18 ranking in the USCHO.com poll (145 points) and received some votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll (13 points). The Engineers surrendered only two goals last weekend earning a split in conference play. RPI posted a 4-1 victory at Dartmouth Friday and was shutout, 1-0 at Harvard Saturday.
Cornell, Quinnipiac, Harvard, and Dartmouth are also receiving votes in the national polls this week.

The 16th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the five NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
The USCHO.com/CBS College Sports XXL Poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country. The poll, published weekly by the Associated Press, is a production of USCHO.com, which provides in-depth coverage of college sports, including hockey, lacrosse, soccer and others.
