Kramer Nets Two in Tigers Win

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Princeton men's hockey team jumped out to a three goal lead in the first period, but needed a fourth goal in the third period to come away with a 4-3 win at Colgate on Friday night. Mike Kramer scored two goals for the Tigers and Andrew Calof had four points in the win.

Princeton's line of Kramer, Calof and Rob Kleebaum were responsible for all four Tiger goals in the game and wasted little time putting Princeton on the scoreboard, opening up a two-goal lead less than four minutes into the game. Calof struck first with his second of the season 16 seconds into the game when he put home the rebound of Kramer shot on a 2 on 1 after the initial shot was saved.

The pair connected again at 3:33 of the first period on the power play as Kramer one-timed a Calof cross-ice pass through the box. Princeton made it 3-0 in the 15th minute of the first period when Kleebaum netted his first collegiate goal as a result of the forecheck. Kleebaum caused a turnover that was picked up by Calof and given to Kleebaum, who picked a corner for the goal.

Colgate's Thomas Larkin put Colgate on the board with four minutes left in the first period and Princeton held a 3-1 margin at the intermission after outshooting Colgate 14-8 in the opening stanza.

The Raiders scored the only goal of the second period as Kurtus Bartliff scored at 15:51 to move Colgate within a goal and Jeremy Price drew Colgate even with a goal five minutes into the third period and looked to have the momentum after tying the score with three straight goals. Colgate went on the power play two minutes later but the Tigers got the kill they needed as netminder Alan Reynolds made two saves during the power play.

Princeton completed the kill and 10 seconds later went back ahead on Kramer's second goal of the night as he went in alone on Colgate netminder Alex Evin and scored on the breakaway. Taylor Fedun and Calof assisted on the goal.

Calof continued his hot start, collecting a goal and three assists. He now has 11 points in five college games. Kramer, Princeton's leading active scorer, had a season-high three points in the win with two goals and an assist, and Fedun tallied a pair of helpers from the blue line.

Reynolds made 32 saves in the Princeton goal for the win, including 16 in the third period as the Raiders looked to draw even. Evin made 26 saves in the loss. Colgate outshot Princeton 35-30.

Princeton is now 2-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in ECAC Hockey. The Tigers have now won two in a row and will look to make it three Saturday night at Cornell.
