Finalists Named for League’s Ken Dryden Award

ALBANY, N.Y. -- ECAC Hockey today announced the finalists for the 2009-10 Ken Dryden Award.  The league honored the former Cornell goaltending great beginning in the 2001-02 season, by tagging his name with the annual Goaltender of the Year Award.  Keith Kinkaid, Union; Ben Scrivens, Cornell; and Allen York, Rensselaer, have each been selected as finalists for the honor by the league’s coaches. 

Union rookie, Keith Kinkaid is another finalist for the league’s top rookie award. He
received double recognition this year as a league Third-Team selection and an All-Rookie
Team pick. The Farmingville, NY native posted a conference record of 10-4-2 along with
a .910 save percentage. His honors this season include being named to the Hockey
Commissioners’ Association Honorable Rookie Mention of the Month for November, a
two time ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week (Nov. 30 and Feb. 22), and a two time ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week (Nov. 16 and Dec. 7).

Cornell senior netminder, Scrivens turned in his finest year of a stellar career in Ithaca.   He posted a .933 save percentage, tops in conference play, and had a 1.89 goals-against average, the only league netminder under 2.25.  His .705 winning percentage, was again the highest among ECAC Hockey goalies.  He was recently selected a member of the all-league first-team as well.  Scrivens logged nearly 1300 minutes of ice time during conferted play and also recorded three league shutouts.

The third finalist for the Dryden Award is Rensselaer’ Allen York.  The sophomore was  was 9-7-3 with a 2.26 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage in 20 league contests.  The Wetaskiwin, Alb. native finished second in ECAC Hockey in both goals-against average and save percentage and was fifth in winning percentage (.553).  York was also recently tagged with the all-league second team mark capping off an impressive season.
