Trio Selected in National Polls

ALBANY, NY - Three of the top teams in ECAC Hockey have once again been recognized by the national voters for placement in the latest USCHO.com Poll and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll released Monday, February 22.  Yale has moved into the No. 4/5 spot, Cornell finds itself in the No. 9/9 position, and Union has earned the No. 15/15 position.

Currently riding the nation's second longest winning streak at six games, Yale moved up one spot to the No. 4 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll (392 points) and remains in the No. 5 spot in the USCHO.com (811 points).  The Bulldogs are leading second place Cornell and Union by two points in the League standings.  Yale continues to find the back of the net each game, leading the nation in scoring offense with 113 goals in 27 games (4.19 G/GM).  The Bulldogs will look to claim their second consecutive Cleary Cup as they travel to Princeton Friday and Quinnipiac Saturday.

Winners of two of three games last week, including a weekend split in League action, Cornell moved up one spot to the No. 9 position in both the USCHO.com Poll (551 points) and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll (200 points).  The Big Red is tied for second-place with Union in the League standings, trailing Yale by two points.  Cornell will host No. 15/15 Union Friday night and Rensselaer at Lynah Rink.  Special teams have played a significant role in Cornell's success this season.  The Big Red ranks first in conference action in power-play (24.4%) and penalty kill efficiency (87.9%).

After a four-week hiatus Union returns to the No. 15 spot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll (68 points) after defeating both Princeton and Quinnipiac last weekend.  With wins the Dutchmen also moved up to the No. 15 position in the latest USCHO.com Poll (368 points).  Going back to last season, Union has scored three or more goals in 15-out-of-17 games at Messa Rink and four or more in nine of the 14.
