Four League Teams Continue to Receive National Recognition
ALBANY, NY -- Four ECAC Hockey teams continue to make a presence in earning positions in the latest USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Polls released Monday, January 11. Yale, Cornell, Union, and Quinnipiac are securing the respect of the voters.
With one league victory in its only appearance last week, Yale continues its climb up the polls. The Bulldogs jumped from the No. 6 position to the No. 5 slot in both the USCHO.com Poll (754 points) and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll (371 points). The Bulldogs doubled-up league foe Dartmouth on the road Sunday, 4-2. The Bulldogs currently have a five-game unbeaten streak (4-0-1) and lead the nation in scoring offense netting 64 goals in 15 games for a 4.27 G/GM.
Idol Cornell fell dropped from the No. 8 spot to the No. 9 position in the USCHO.com Poll earning 603 points and from the No. 7 position to the No. 8 slot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll garnering 253 points. The Big Red will trek to the North Country this weekend to take on Clarkson Friday and St. Lawrence Saturday in league action.
Making its debut in the 2009-10 USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll, Union, earns the No. 13 spot with 78 points. The Dutchmen also continue their climb in the USCHO.com Poll moving from the No. 17 position to the No. 13 slot this week with 350 points. With two key league road wins last weekend, Union remains unbeaten in ECAC Hockey play, sporting a record of 6-0-3, which has vaulted them to first-place.
Quinnipiac suffered two home loses last weekend, which knocked them from the No. 12 position to the No. 17 spot in the USCHO.com Poll with 172 points. The Bobcats will look to stop a four-game skid this weekend when they host No. 14/15 St. Cloud State in a two-game non-league set.
