League’s Top Three Teams Ranked Entering Postseason Play

ALBANY, NY -- The quarterfinals of the 2010 ECAC Men's Hockey Championship presented by Bank of America and Hilton Garden Inn, Albany Medical Center will begin this weekend with the top three league teams hosting familiar foes.  These top teams are once again featured in the USCHO.com Poll and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll released Monday, March 8.  Regular-season champion Yale is ranked in the No. 6/6 spot, second-seeded Cornell remains in the top-10 in the No. 9/9 position, and third-seeded Union finds itself in the No. 17 spot.   

Two-time defending ECAC Hockey regular-season champion Yale remains in the No. 6 in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll (336 points) and USCHO.com Poll (732 points).  Coming off a bye week, the two-time defending league champion will welcome Brown this weekend in postseason quarterfinal action.  The Bulldogs offense exploded in their two battles versus Brown this season, having recording conference wins of 6-5, in overtime and 8-5.      

Also gearing up for the postseason action this week is No. 2 seeded Cornell which remains in the No. 9 spot in both national polls.  The Big Red has earned 236 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll and 587 points in the USCHO.com Poll.  Cornell will welcome rival Harvard this weekend in quarterfinal action.  The Big Red and Crimson met twice during the regular-season with Cornell coming out on top each time (6-3 and 3-0).

The final ECAC Hockey squad ranked nationally is Union, which comes in at the No. 17 spot in the latest USCHO.com Poll (178 points).  The Dutchmen finished in third place in ECAC Hockey and will host visiting Quinnipiac in a best-of-three series.  The Dutchmen and Bobcats met twice during the regular-season with Union scoring two victories (2-2, ot and 7-3).
