First New Year Polls Feature Four League Teams

ALBANY, NY - The start of the new year features four ECAC Hockey teams earning positions in the latest USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Polls released Monday, January 4.  Two teams Yale and Union continue to climb in the polls, while Cornell and Quinnipiac fell a few spots. 

In its thirteenth week in the national polls for Yale, as it moved from the No. 9 spot to the No. 6 in the USCHO.com Poll (714 points) and from the No. 8 spot to the No. 6 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll (328 points).  The Bulldogs went 1-0-1 versus in ranked teams last weekend in the Badger Showdown.  Yale will idol until January 10 when it travels to Dartmouth resuming league play.  The Bulldogs currently lead the nation in scoring offense netting 60 goals in 14 games for a 4.29 G/GM.

Beginning an ambitious January schedule, where it has gone 1-2 thus far, Cornell dropped from the No. 4 slot to the No. 8 position in the USCHO.com Poll earning 627 points and from the No. 4 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll to the No. 7 with 297 points.  The Big Red continues to excel on the power-play, ranking second in the nation scoring on 18 of 66 chances (27.3%).

Showcasing the nation's seconf best winning percentage at .750 Quinnipiac (13-4-1) fell from the No. 8/7 positions to the No. 12/11 spots in the USCHO.com Poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll respectively.   The Bobcats merited 481 total votes in the USCHO.com Poll and 157 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll.   

Union, winners of two-out-of-three contests last week, continue its climb in the USCHO.com Poll moving from the No. 18 position to the No. 17 slot this week.  The Dutchmen received 184 points in the poll.  Union ranks fifth in the nation in scoring offense Union netting 68 goals in 19 overall contests (3.58G/GM).
