Top Three Seeds Nationally Ranked

 

ALBANY, NY -- The top three seeds in the upcoming 2010 ECAC Men's Hockey Championship presented by Bank of America and Hilton Garden Inn, Albany Medical Center have been recognized by the national voters for placement in the latest USCHO.com Poll and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll released Monday, March 1.  Regular-season champion Yale is ranked in the No. 6/6 spot, second-seeded Cornell remains in the top-10 in the No. 9/9 position, and third-seeded Union finds itself ranked No. 18.   

Two-time defending ECAC Hockey regular-season champion, Yale is ranked No. 6 in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll (323 points) and USCHO.com Poll (723 points).  The Bulldogs have earned a weekend off with the No. 1 seed in the League's postseason tournament.    Yale's firepower on offense has been evident the entire season.  The Bulldogs have five student-athletes that have averaged at least one point per game in conference action this season, led by junior forward Broc Little (1.41 P/GM).   

Featured in the national spotlight for the past 21 weeks, Cornell remains ranked in the top-10 in the No. 9 spot in both national polls.  The Big Red has earned 231 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll and 601 points in the USCHO.com Poll.  Cornell finished the regular-season with a 14-5-3 record, earning the No. 2 seed in the League's postseason tournament, and a bye.

Finishing the regular-season with an overall mark of 18-10-6 and a conference record of 12-6-4, Union is ranked No. 18 in the latest USCHO.com Poll (183 points).  The Dutchmen finished in third place in ECAC Hockey and have earned a bye in the first-round of postseason play.  Union scored the second-most goals in conference play, netting 81 and surrendered the third-fewest goals (60).
