Trio Merits Top-10 Respect

ALBANY, NY -- Three ECAC Hockey teams earned positions in the top ten in this week's 2009-10 college hockey polls released Monday, November 30, 2009.  Quinnipiac springs to the No. 4/6 positions, Cornell clasps onto the No. 7/7 spots, while Yale strides to the No. 10/10 slot in the USCHO.com rankings and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll respectively.

Riding the nation's longest unbeaten streak (8-0-0) Quinnipiac made the biggest leap of any team this week jumping five positions from the No. 9 spot to the No. 4 slot in the USCHO.com Poll and from the No. 10 spot to the No. 6 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll.   The Bobcats merited seven first-place votes and 799 total votes in the USCHO.com Poll and 353 points with one first-place vote in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll.  The Bobcats were 2-0-0 last week, handling intra-conference foe Princeton, 5-1, and downing No. 9 Massachusetts, 5-4 in overtime.  Quinnipiac currently has sole possession of first-place in ECAC Hockey.    

After a 1-0-1 week Cornell preserved the No. 7 spot in the USCHO.com Poll collecting 708 points and jumped to the No. 7 spot from the No. 8 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll with 353 points.  The Big Red doubled-up Colgate, 4-2 in conference action Tuesday and then skated to a 3-3 overtime tie against Hockey East foe Boston University in Red Hot Hockey at Madison Square Garden Saturday.  Cornell features the most prolific power-play in the nation converting on 15 of 47 chances (31.9%).

Defending league and tournament champion Yale skipped from the No. 11 to the No. 10 position in both the USCHO.com poll earning 497 points and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Poll with 198 points.  The Bulldogs improved their record to 5-2-2 overall by winning two non-conference games last week handling both Sacred Heart by a count of 8-2 and Holy Cross by a 7-3 margin.
