Balanced League Showcased in National Polls

ALBANY, NY - Four ECAC Hockey teams continue to warrant national recognition in the early part of the 2009-10 season earning placement in the UCSHO.com poll and three merit spots in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll released Monday, November 16, 2009.  Cornell is seated in the No. 5 spot, Yale jumped to the No. 9 position, Quinnipiac vaulted to the No. 13 slot, while Princeton holds down the No. 19 position. 

After a weekend split in league action, Cornell dropped one spot in the poll to the No. 5 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll (342 points) and two spots in the USCHO.com poll earning 781 points to come in also at the No. 5 slot.  The Big Red dropped a hard fought contest to defending league and tournament champion Yale, 4-2 Friday, but bounced back Saturday to handle Brown by a count of 6-0.  

With the impressive home win over the Big Red, Yale moved from the No. 12 position into the top ten at the No. 9 spot garnering 506 points in the USCHO.com poll and from the No. 11 spot to the No. 9 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll with 218 points.  The Bulldogs earned three out of a possible four points in the league standings, as they tied Colgate 3-3 Saturday.  Yale will welcome No. 11 Massachusetts in a non-conference game Thursday at Ingalls Rink.  

Winners of four straight league games, Quinnipiac took one of the larger leaps in the poll moving from the No. 20 position to the No. 13 spot in the USCHO.com poll (366 points) and enter the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll for the first time this season in the No. 13 position as well with 102 points.  The Bobcats put their streak on the line this weekend facing No. 5/5 Cornell Friday.    

Earning three points in league action with a 2-1 overtime win over Dartmouth and tying Harvard 3-3, Princeton held its position - No. 19 in the USCHO.com poll with 181 points.
