Cornell and Yale Continue to Climb

ALBANY, NY - Three ECAC Hockey teams continue to hold their own in the national rankings in the early part of the 2009-10 season.  Cornell and Yale continue to climb in the rankings, while Princeton maintains its presence among the nation's elite in the Top 20 of the most recent national USCHO.com poll and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll, which were released Monday.

Cornell jumped to the No. 5 slot in the USCHO.com poll and maintained the No. 6 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll, earning 657 points and 320 points respectively.  The Big Red earned an overtime non-conference win last weekend against visiting Niagara at Lynah Rink last weekend.

Yale, the defending regular-season and ECAC Hockey Tournament Champions, moved from the No. 7 slot to No. 6 slot with 634 points in USCHO.com rankings, and held its No. 7 ranking in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll with 291 points.  The Bulldogs garnered one first-place vote in each poll as well.  Yale answered the call last weekend earning a 5-2 win in a nonconference showdown at Princeton last Saturday.  

After earning a weekend split downing Brown 1-0 and suffering a loss to Yale, the Tigers fell from the No. 11 spot to the No. 14 position in the USCHO.com rankings earning 314 points and dropped from No. 9 to No. 13 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll with 104 points.
