Ben Scrivens made 24 saves for Cornell (17-8-4, 14-5-3) and Allen York stopped 28 for Rensselaer (17-15-4, 10-9-3) as the two teams skated to a 1-1 overtime tie Saturday evening at Lynah Rink. The Big Red finished in second place in the ECAC Hockey standings and receives a first-round playoff bye in the upcoming league playoffs. The Engineers finished sixth and will play at home against Brown in the opening round.
Cornell took a 1-0 lead at 7:07 of the opening period when Sean
Collins scored his sixth goal of the season with assists from Nick
D'Agostino and Mike Devin. Chase Polacek tied the game at 14:51 on
a power-play goal with an assist going to Jerry D'Amigo.
The remainder of the game was scoreless. The Big Red was unable to
manage a power-play goal in six attempts that included a
five-minute major penalty in the second period against Paul Kerins
of Rensselaer. The Engineers finished one for six with the man
advantage.
