Tigers Beaten at Union
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (2/19/10) - The Princeton men's hockey team fell at 16th-ranked Union 4-1 on Friday night as Union built a 3-0 lead before Kevin Lohry scored Princeton's lone goal.
Following a scoreless opening period, Mario Valery-Trabucco gave Union a 1-0 lead 4:10 into the second period with an unassisted tally. Princeton responded and went on the attack following the goal, but could not crack Union goaltender Keith Kincaid, and the Dutchmen in turn took advantage of an opportunity and Jeremy Welsh made it 2-0 in the 13th minute of the game.
Kyle Bodie's goal midway through the third period made it a 3-0 Union lead before the Tigers finally converted and Lohry scored his fourth of the season with assists going to linemates Will MacDonald and Marc Hagel.
Looking to climb back in the game, Princeton pulled goaltender Zane Kalemba early in favor of an extra attacker but Kelly Zajax sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 17:06 in the 4-1 win.
Princeton outshot Union 36-29 in the loss. Kinkaid made 35 saves for the win while Zane Kalemba stopped 25 shots in the loss.
