HAMDEN, Conn. - Scott Zurevinski (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) scored the game-winning goal in the Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team's home-opening win against Bentley, 3-2, in front of  a sellout crowd of 3,164 at the TD Bank Sports Center. The Bobcats improve to 3-0-0 overall with the victory, while Bentley drops to 0-2-0 on the young season.

Zurevinski banged home a rebound just 29 seconds into overtime for the win. Zach Hansen (White Bear Lake, Minn.) picked up a pass from Eric Lampe (Madison, Wisc.) and put a shot on goal. The puck deflected to the left of Bentley's Kyle Rank where Zurevinski was waiting for the rebound. Mathieu Cadieux (Oshawa, Ont.), making his first career start, picked up the victory after stopping 25 shots in goal. Cadieux is the third Quinnipiac goalie to record a win through the Bobcats' first three games.

"It's a good win for Mathieu (Cadieux)," head coach Rand Pecknold said. "He played well. We didn't play too well in front of him, but he battled and that's a good win for him."

Senior Brandon Wong (Victoria, B.C.) had a hand in both Bobcat goals in the first period. Reese Rolheiser (Edmonton, Alberta) put Quinnipiac on the board exactly three minutes into the first period on the Bobcats' first shot of the game. Mike Glaicar (Kamloops, B.C.) handled the puck in the neutral and hooked up with Wong just below the blue line. Wong passed the puck to his right to a streaking Rolheiser. The freshman's shot beat Bentley goalie Kyle Rank to the top right corner of the net to give Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead. The assist was Wong's fifth of the season, while Rolheiser and Glaicar pick up their first points of the year.

Bentley evened the score when Jamie Nudy punched in a rebound after a shot by Marc Menzione. Quinnipiac's Cadieux  kicked away Menzione's offering with his left pad. Nudy picked up the rebound in the crease and punched into the goal to tie the game.

Wong put the Bobcats back in front with just under three minutes to play in the first. Rolheiser fed freshman D'Arcy Oakes (Shanty Bay, Ont.) for a shot on goal that was stopped by Rank. Wong saw the loose puck between Rank's pads and found an opening between the Bentley goalkeeper's pad to put Quinnipiac in front, 2-1.

The Falcons tied the game at the 5:21 mark of the second period when a Bobcat defender turned the puck over in the defensive zone. Dan Koudys stole the puck and passed to Kane Osmars. Osmars shot from Cadieux's left to just inside the far post to tie the game at two.

The Bobcats have a week off before traveling to Moon Township, Pa., for a two-game series against non-conference opponent Robert Morris on Oct. 30-31. Quinnipiac then returns home for its first ECAC Hockey weekend of the 2009-10 season when it hosts Clarkson on Nov. 6 and St. Lawrence on Nov. 7.
