Sweeney Still Manning Point for Bruins

There are days when Don Sweeney can't wait to pick up the phone. Other days, he doesn't want to go near it.

Working in the front office of an NHL team isn't the same as playing. But that doesn't mean the emotional side of the game is removed.

Sweeney is the director of hockey operations and player development for the Boston Bruins, the club for which he played 15 of his 16 NHL seasons. But the 42-year-old St. Stephen native needed time to establish himself before he became a regular on the Bruins blueline, spending parts of two seasons with the American Hockey League farm team in Portland, Me.
