ALBANY — The ECAC Hockey Tournament includes the best field
of semifinalists since the 2004-05 event and perhaps one of the
best ever.
Three of the participants are ranked in the top 10 in every
college hockey poll and the fourth, St. Lawrence, is listed as high
as 14th nationally. All are 20-game winners, they were the top four
finishers in the regular season, and there is serious talk of the
rare possibility that all four could be invited to the NCAA
Tournament when the weekend is over.
Yale, the No. 1 seed and regular-season champion, is the fresh
face in the field that also includes second seed and defending
tournament champion Princeton, and third-seeded Cornell, the most
accomplished of all the tournament teams in league history. The
Bulldogs face St. Lawrence in Game 1 at 4 p.m. today at Times Union
Center.
