Tigers Fall to Visiting Engineers
PRINCETON -- Erik Burgdoerfer and Patrick
Cullen each had three points to lead Rensselaer past the Princeton
men's hockey team 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at Hobey Baker Rink.
Senior Lee
Jubinville provided Princeton's lone goal on the power play in the
second period.
RPI built a 2-0 lead in the first nine minutes of the game as Josh
Rabbani and Alex Angers-Goulet scored to give the Engineers all the
scoring they would need in the win. Rabbani scored as he beat
Princeton sophomore goaltender Alan
Reynolds to a loose puck and slid it into the goal and
Angers-Goulet scored a similar goal on the backhand.
Burgdoerfer scored his first of two goals 1:01 into the second
period as he snuck down from the point and one-timed a pass from
Cullen. He would later add a goal on a similar play in the third
period. Chase Polacek added the final RPI goal.
Princeton's lone goal came at 8:09 of the second period on the
power play as Jubinville redirected a pass from sophomore Taylor
Fedun into the RPI goal for his fourth of the season. Junior Jody
Pederson also assisted on the goal.
Reynolds made 19 saves in the loss while RPI netminder Mathias
Lange had 26 saves for the win.
Princeton falls to 13-5 with the loss and 8-4 in the ECAC. The
Tigers now have 16 days off during final exams and return to action
on Jan. 26 against Robert Morris.
