Tigers Edged by Visiting Dutchmen
PRINCETON -- Union scored twice in the third
period to come from behind and defeat the Princeton men's hockey
team 3-2 on Friday night at Hobey Baker Rink. Kevin
Lohry and Dan
Bartlett scored for Princeton in the loss.
Princeton skated out to leads of 1-0 and 2-1, but Union answered
both times and went ahead midway through the final period on Matt
Cook's power-play game winner. Off a feed from Lane Caffaro, Cook
scored on a backhander to the upper right corner of the net.
Lohry gave Princeton a 1-0 lead at 14:27 of the first period on his
goal from the left face off dot. Brandan
Kushniruk fed him the puck in the neutral zone and Lohry skated in
on the wing and took a shot that beat Union goaltender Corey Milan
high. Princeton goalkeeper Zane
Kalemba also had an assist on the goal, the third of his
career.
Union's Mario Valery-Trabucco evened the score on the power at
13:06 of the second period on the rebound of his own shot high, but
the Tigers quickly answered to regain the lead when Bartlett
connected on a two-man advantage with his sixth of the year. Jody
Pederson fed him the puck on the doorstep and Taylor
Fedun also assisted on the goal.
Union went ahead in the third period with two goals. The first came
on a turnover as Mike Schreiber held the puck in the offensive zone
and fed Adam Presizniuk down low on a 2 on 1. He fed Stephane
Boileau for a one-time goal.
Milan made 29 saves for the win while Kalemba stopped 23 in the
loss. Princeotn outshot Union 31-26.
The loss drops Princeton to 13-4 overall and 8-3 in the ECAC. The
Tigers complete the weekend tomorrow at 4 p.m. against Rensselaer.
