Four Teams Recognized in National Polls

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The League quartet of Yale, Cornell, Princeton and St. Lawrence were identified in the most recent national polls, which were released Monday.

Climbing to No. 5 in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine (370 points) and USCHO.com/CBS College Sports (832 points) polls, Yale (24-7-2 overall and 15-5-2 in ECAC Hockey) is the highest-ranking team among the League quartet.  The Bulldogs vaulted to the No. 5 slot after claiming their first ECAC Hockey tournament title last weekend. 

The Big Red of Cornell (21-9-4 overall, 13-6-3 in ECAC Hockey) registered the No. 9 ranking in both the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports (578 points) and in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine (232 points) polls.  Cornell earned a split last weekend, which included a double-overtime victory versus Princeton (4-3, 2ot) in the one of the ECAC Hockey championship semifinal games.  

Princeton (22-11-1 overall, 14-8-0 in ECAC Hockey) maintained its top-10 status in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports (541 points) poll at the No. 10 spot and came in at the No. 11 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine (176 points) poll.  The Tigers played in two overtime battles in Albany last weekend, earning a 2-2 overtime tie against St. Lawrence Saturday. 

St. Lawrence (21-12-5 overall and 11-7-4 in ECAC Hockey) garnered the No. 15 ranking in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports poll with 239 points.  The Saints dropped a one-goal game (4-3) to Yale last weekend at the League championship in Albany, and earned an overtime tie versus Princeton (2-2, ot) Saturday.

The 14th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.

The USCHO.com/CBS College Sports XXL Poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country.
