Clarkson Catches Eyes of Pollsters; Princeton, Cornell and Harvard Hold Positions

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Gaining its first victory of the season, Princeton climbed one spot, to No. 9, in both the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports XXL poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. The Tigers are joined in the latest polls by league members Clarkson (No. 15), Cornell (No. 17) and Harvard (No. 18).

The Tigers, who defeated league rival Brown by a score of 4-1, tallied 205 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, and 529 points in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports XXL poll. The Tigers will face Cornell and Colgate in a pair of league games this weekend.

Clarkson lost in an exhibition match with Carleton last weekend. The Golden Knights remained at No. 15 in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine (50 points) and USCHO.com/CBS College Sports XXL (249 points) polls. The Golden Knights will open their league portion of the schedule with a pair of games at home against Brown and Yale 

Cornell, which opens its regular season at Princeton November 7 in a game televised by ESPNU, dropped one spot to No. 17 (187 points) in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports XXL poll. The Big Red are the only team in the top 20 who has yet to play a regular season game.

Harvard was victorious over Dartmouth, 4-1 Friday, which earned the Crimson 156 points to move up two spots to No. 18 in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports XXL poll. The Crimson travel to Rensselaer and Union this weekend.

The 14th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.

The USCHO.com/CBS College Sports XXL Poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country.
