Tigers, Big Red Continue Rise; Big Green Enter National Scene

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Princeton, Cornell and Dartmouth, currently the top three teams in ECAC Hockey, have caught the attention of the national pollsters, earning spots in the latest national polls, which were released Monday.

Princeton (7-1 overall and 6-1 in ECAC Hockey), currently enjoying a six-game win streak, which included wins at St. Lawrence (2-1) Friday and Clarkson (4-2) Saturday, continued its ascent to the top of the polls, registering the No. 7 slot in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine (328 points) and USCHO.com/CBS College Sports (710 points) polls. The Tigers also received first-place votes, garnering three in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports poll and one in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

Cornell (4-0-2 overall and 4-0-2 ECAC Hockey), which posted a 2-1 triumph over visiting Harvard Friday and a 3-1 win over the visiting Big Green of Dartmouth Saturday, gained two positions, jumping to No. 12 in both polls. The Big Red tallied 154 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, and 455 points in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports poll.

Dartmouth (5-3 overall, 5-2 in ECAC Hockey) earned its first national ranking of the season, earning the No. 20 position in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports poll. Coach Bob Gaudet's squad totaled 46 points. The Big Green edged Colgate 1-0 Friday and dropped a 3-1 decision to Cornell Saturday.

The 14th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.

The USCHO.com/CBS College Sports XXL Poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country.
