Defending Champions Earn National Rankings

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Princeton, the defending ECAC Hockey tournament champion, and Clarkson, the defending ECAC Hockey regular-season champion, each solidified spots in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, which was released Monday.

Led by head coach Guy Gadowsky, the Tigers occupy the No. 12 slot in the poll. Princeton, which opens its season against Western Ontario October 25, totaled 111 points in the poll. Princeton was not ranked in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine preseason poll.

The Golden Knights, under the guidance of George Roll, tallied 109 points in the poll to garner the No. 13 position. Clarkson, which was ranked No. 11 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine preseason poll, opents its 2008-09 regular season October 17 at RIT.

The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
