ALBANY, N.Y. -- It took until the final weekend of the regular-season to prove it, but both the coaches and the media were right.  After holding the top spot in the league standings for most of the season, the hands-down preseason to win the William J. Cleary Cup was Clarkson, and they did not disappoint.  The Golden Knights earned the crown last night.

At No. 9 Clarkson 4, No. 12 Princeton 3:  In a match up between the top two teams in the conference, Clarkson edged Princeton to win the ECAC Hockey regular-season title at Cheel Arena last night.  Four different Golden Knights scored goals and senior net minder David Leggio made 26 saves as the Green and Gold claimed the program's 10th conference regular-season crown.  Princeton held a slight 29-27 shot advantage.  Princeton sophomore netminder Zane Kalemba made 23 saves for the Tigers.  The Tigers were 2-of-4 on the power play, while the Golden Knights were 1-of-6 with the man advantage.

No. 20 Harvard at Colgate 3 (ot):  Both Colgate and No. 20-ranked Harvard earned a point in the ECAC Hockey standings as the teams skating to a tie last night at Starr Rink.  Crimson senior Paul Dufault and sophomore Alex Biega also had goals, while freshman Michael Biega had a pair of assists.  Forwards David McIntyre, Mike Werner and Ethan Cox each netted a goal for the Raiders.  Sophomore Kyle Richter made 25 saves and Mark Dekanich made 12 of his 26 saves for Colgate in the third period and overtime.  Harvard was 1 for 3 on the power play, while Colgate was 0 for 4.

At Cornell 6, Dartmouth 0:  Sophomore forward Colin Greening scored a hat trick and classmate Ben Scrivens collected 31 saves for his third shutout of the season and fourth of his career as Cornell blanked Dartmouth last night at Lynah Rink.  Forwards Justin Krueger, Riley Nash and Raymond Sawada each added goals for the Big Red, while defenseman Brendon Nash picked up three assists and forwards Topher Scott, Michael Kennedy and Patrick Kennedy each added a pair of helpers to send the Big Red to the victory.  Goaltenders Mike Devine and Joe Grossman combined to make 21 stops for the Big Green.

At St. Lawrence 4, Quinnipiac 1:  Senior Charlie Giffin tallied a goal and an assist, graduate student Pat Muir picked up his first career point and fellow grad student John Hallas made 30 saves, lifting the Saints past the Bobcats last evening.  Sophomore forward Eric Lampe had the only goal for the Bobcats, who have now lost five games in a row.  Hallas wrapped up the win with a 30-save performance, while Bobcats' netminder Bud Fisher stopped 25.  St. Lawrence went 2 for 9 on the power-play, while Quinnipiac went 0 for 4.

Rensselaer 2 at Brown 1:  Sophomore defenseman Peter Merth and freshman forward Scott Halpern scored goals in the last two minutes, to lead the Engineers to a comeback victory over Brown Friday night at Meehan Auditorium.  Junior forward Ryan Garbutt knocked in a  rebound on a power-play to give the Bears the lead as the third period began.  Junior goaltender Mathias Lange finished with 32 saves for Rensselaer, while sophomore netminder Dan Rosen finished with 22 stops for the Bears.

Union 2 at Yale 1:  The Dutchmen with their sights on a first-round bye defeated Yale last night at Ingalls Rink.  Union can still finish anywhere from third to fifth, and can clinch a first-round bye with a win tonight.  Freshman forward John Simpson and senior defenseman Michael Beynon tallied the goals for Union in the comeback win.  Sophomore forward Chris Cahill hit the back of the net for the fifth time this season for Yale.  Freshman Corey Milan finished with 28 saves, while sophomore Billy Blase made 15 saves in the loss.  The Bulldogs outshot the Dutchmen 29 to 17 in the contest.
