Avalanche, RPI Alum Healey Agree to Terms
The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced Friday the
signing of free agent forward and former RPI player Eric Healey to
a one-year contract.
Healey, 32, appeared in 80 games last season with the Springfield
Falcons of the American Hockey League, leading that club in goals
(27), assists (48) and points (75). The 6'0", 205-pound native of
Hull, Mass. finished the 2006-07 season as the 12th leading scorer
in the American Hockey League. As a member of the Boston Bruins
organization in 2005-06, Healey led the Providence Bruins (AHL)
club in points (71) and assists (42) and made an appearance in the
2006 AHL All-Star Game.
Healey played collegiate hockey at R.P.I (1994-98) where he
received ECAC Second-Team All-Star honors in 1997 and First-Team
honors in 1998. He was named to the NCAA East Second All-American
Team in 1997 and 1998.
Hussey, 28, was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins
(254th overall) in the 1998 Entry Draft. He signed with the Detroit
Red Wings prior to last season and appeared in 75 games with the
Red Wings' AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids, Mich. A native of New
Haven, Connecticut, the 6'1", 210-pound center played four seasons
at the University of Wisconsin and four seasons with the Pittsburgh
Penguins organization.
