Dartmouth's Grant Lewis Signs with Thrashers
Atlanta, GA --The Atlanta Thrashers have signed defenseman Grant
Lewis, the team's second-round selection, 40th overall, in the 2004
NHL Entry Draft, according to Executive Vice President and General
Manager Don Waddell. Lewis recently concluded his collegiate career
at Dartmouth.
Lewis, 22, recorded 15 points (one goal, 14 assists) and 30 penalty
minutes in 24 games with Dartmouth last season. The 6-3, 205-pound
defenseman came back from an ankle injury to help the Big Green
earn a share of its first Ivy Title in over 20 years. Lewis shared
first among ECAC Hockey League defensemen in assists and was tied
for sixth in points.
The native of Pittsburgh, PA has tallied 77 points (13 goals, 64
assists) and 172 penalty minutes in 120 career games with
Dartmouth. He was named to the ECACHL First Team and was on the
ECACHL All-Rookie Team during his freshman year in 2004. He was
also selected to the league's second team in 2006.
Prior to his time at Dartmouth, Lewis spent one season of junior
hockey with the Pittsburgh Forge (NAHL), tallying nine points (two
goals, seven assists) and 59 penalty minutes in 50 games.
