Coming Into Focus
ALBANY, N.Y. -- One weekend of regular-season competition is remaining to determine the regular-season champion and playoff positioning for the ECAC Hockey Championship First Round (March 7-9) and Quarterfinals (March 14-16).
The top eight seeds, which will host first-round or quarterfinals series, are determined. The hosts are Clarkson, Princeton, Harvard, Union, Cornell, Quinnipiac, Yale and Colgate. Brown, Dartmouth, Rensselaer and St. Lawrence will travel during the first round.
First-round and quarterfinals competition will be best-of-three-games series held at on-campus sites. The first round features seed Nos. 5-8 hosting seed Nos. 9-12. The top four seeds, based upon the final regular-season standings, receive a first-round bye, and play host to the four teams advancing from first-round competition.
CLARKSON -- Can finish as high as first or as low as second; clinched first-round bye; needs three points or win over Princeton to clinch No. 1 seed without help.
PRINCETON -- Can finish as high as first or low as second; clinched first-round bye; needs four points to clinch No. 1 seed without help.
HARVARD -- Can finish as high as third or low as eighth; needs three points to clinch first-round bye without help.
CORNELL -- Can finish as high as third or low as eighth; needs
four points to clinch first-round bye without help
UNION -- Can finish as high as third or low as
eighth; needs four points to clinch first-round bye
without help
QUINNIPIAC -- Can finish as high as third or low as
eighth; needs two points and help for chance of
first-round bye
YALE -- Can finish as high as fourth or low as
eighth; needs three points and help for chance of
first-round bye
COLGATE -- Can finish as high as fourth or low as eighth; needs four points and help for chance of first-round bye
BROWN -- Can finish as high as ninth or low as 12th
DARTMOUTH -- Can finish as high as ninth or low as 12th
RENNSELAER - Can finish as high as ninth or low as 12th
ST. LAWRENCE -- Can finish as high as ninth or low as 12th
