Put Hobey in the Hands of Lee Jubinville
Following the release Thursday of the Top 10 finalists for the 2008 Hobey Baker Award, the second round of fan balloting is now open. Fans can now vote for Princeton forward Lee Jubinville, the 2007-08 ECAC Hockey Player of the Year.
Hockey fans everywhere can now visit the website: http://www.hobeybaker.com/ to place your vote for Lee Jubinville from the list of 10 finalists to determine this year's award recipient. Click on the Vote for Hobey Baker icon and follow the prompts to vote for Lee.
This phase of fan balloting will run now through March 30, 2008. The fans' vote accounts for a full 1% of the total ballot. Additionally, the Selection Committee of 25 members from across the country will cast their votes.
Award criteria include candidates mimicking the superlative character traits put forth by the award's namesake, Hobey Baker, a World War I flying star better known as America's greatest amateur athlete in his day. Award candidates must exhibit strength of character both on and off the ice, contribute to the integrity of his team and display outstanding skills in all phases of the game. Consideration should be given to scholastic achievement and sportsmanship.
The Hobey Baker Hat Trick of three finalists will be announced April 2, 2008.
The 2008 Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced from these three finalists on Friday, April 11, 2008 during the NCAA Frozen Four Championships in Denver, Colo. The 28th annual award announcement honoring college hockey's top player will be televised live on ESPNU at 5:30 p.m. MT.
