TROY, N.Y. - Kevin Sullivan, a long-time ECAC Hockey on-ice official, was honored for his contributions to the collegiate game prior to the Sacred Heart-Rensselaer contest Saturday at the Houston Field House.
Sullivan, who worked his final ECAC Men's Hockey contest Saturday, served as a Division I on-official beginning in 1987. A Troy, New York native, Sullivan was presented an award for his tremendous commitment, decades of service and contributions to the league by ECAC Hockey Commissioner Steve Hagwell, ECAC Hockey Senior Supervisor of Officiating Development Bill Stewart and Rensselaer Acting Director of Athletics Kevin Beattie.
Working the game with fellow on-ice officials Alex Dell and Peter Feola, Sullivan concluded a Division I men's hockey officiating career that was highlighted by three consecutive (2002-04) appearances in the ECAC Hockey Championship finals and back-to-back (2003-04) NCAA regional finals assignments.
A 1977 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Sullivan served as an assistant men's hockey coach at Rensselaer from 1981-87, guiding the Engineers to the 1985 NCAA title.
