MacIntyre's Hat Trick Propels Tigers
PRINCETON -- Sophomore Cam MacIntyre and the Princeton men's hockey team got the season off on the right foot as MacIntyre recorded a hat trick and the men's hockey team won 6-2 at Yale on Friday night. MacIntyre and junior linemates Brett Wilson and Lee Jubinville combined for nine points in Friday's win.
Princeton jumped out to an early lead in the contest when junior Brandan Kushniruk opened the scoring at 5:18 off a feed from sophomore Kevin Kaiser. The lead last through the first intermission until Mark Arcobello evened the score 2:44 into the second period.
MacIntyre answered 3:17 later when Jubinville set him up and that goal started a 2:22 segment in which the Tigers broke the game open with three goals. Sophomore Jody Pederson made it 3-1 at 7:13 on a goal set up by MacIntyre and Wilson, and sophomore Dan Bartlett made it 4-1 with assists from sophomore Tyler Beachell and senior Keith Shattenkirk.
Princeton made it a five-goal second period as MacIntyre completed the hat trick with goals at 13:36 and 16:36. Wilson assisted on both goals and Jubinville had a helper on the second goal. Yale closed the gap with a third period goal but could get no closer as Princeton won the game 6-2.
Sophomore goaltender Zane Kalemba made 21 saves to record the win, while Ryan Rondeau allowed all six goals and took the loss.
Princeton completes the weekend tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 p.m. against the Ontario Institute of Technology in an exhibition game.
