Dartmouth Nets Exhibition Win
HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's hockey began the 2007-08
season with a 2-1 exhibition win over visiting York University. Two
different players scored for the Big Green as goalie Mike Devine
(Orchard Park, N.Y.) made 15 saves in the win.
Junior Connor Shields gave his team a 1-0 lead early in the second
period as he potted a power play goal off helpers by J.T. Wyman
(Wayzata, Minn.) and Rob Pritchard (Burnaby, B.C.). Two freshmen
gave the Big Green a 2-0 advantage late in the final period as
Scott Fleming (Plainfield, Ont.) buried the puck in the back of the
net off an assist by Matt Reber (Edina, Minn.).
York got one back with less than two minutes remaining in the game
as Tyler Harrison connected with Janse Raine.
The Big Green held a huge advantage in shots with 43 compared to
the Lions' 16. Dartmouth was 1-for-2 on the power play while York
was 0-for-1.
Carlo Di Rienzo recorded 41 saves in the loss.
Dartmouth will take on Yale in a scrimmage tomorrow at 4:00 before
opening the regular season with a 4:00 pm matchup with Vermont on
Oct. 28 in Burlington.
