Boxscore

The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team defeated Princeton, 4-0, in an ECAC Hockey match-up at the TD Banknorth Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. The Bobcats improve to 4-3-2 overall and 2-1-2 in league play while Princeton goes to 3-3-0 overall and 2-3-0 in ECAC play. The shutout was Quinnipiac's second of the season and 40th all-time.

"It was a great team game," head coach Rand Pecknold said. "A lot of guys stepped up. Andy Meyer and Dan Henningson were great."

Jamie Bates (Toronto, Ont.) scored his 100th point of his career with an assist on a Dan Henningson goal. Bates becomes the 26th player in Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey history to reach the 100-point and the second this season. Prior to the game, teammate Ben Nelson was honored for scoring his 100th point in Quinnipiac's win over Bentley in their season opener.

"Jamie Bates is a great player and anytime you can get a 100-point kid, you know he's a big-time player," Pecknold said.

"It's really just been having the opportunity to play with some great players at Quinnipiac," Bates said. "Playing on the power play with Reid Cashman the past three years as well as Ben Nelson and Bryan Leitch have helped get to 100."

In the 2nd period, Dan Travis (Wilton, N.H.) broke a 0-0 tie at the 6:12 mark when he put home a rebound off a missed shot from Quinnipiac's Brandon Wong (Victoria, B.C.). Wong was set up by sophomore Jean-Marc Beaudoin (St. Paul, Alb.). Travis' goal was his second of the year while Wong increased his team-lead in assists to six on the season. The assist was also Beaudoin's first of the year.

In the 3rd period, Quinnipiac pushed their lead to 2-0 when Isak Tranvik (Robbinsdale, Minn.) handled the puck in the left face-off circle after picking up the puck on a high pass from Bates. Tranvik dropped the puck off to Dan Henningson (Edmonton, Alb.) who made a quick move in front of the net and slipped a backhand shot past Princeton's Zane Kalemba for his first goal of the season.

Late in the 3rd period, Wong scored his first goal of the season on assists from Nelson and Bates. Beaudoin's shorthand goal came on an empty net on assists from Andrew Meyer (St. Louis, Mo.) and Jake Bauer (Dayton, Minn.). Bauer's assist was the first point of his career.

In goal, Bud Fisher (Peterborough, Ont.) had 25 saves for his seventh career shutout, tying former Bobcat goalie Jamie Holden for the all-time lead at Quinnipiac.

For Princeton, Kalemba had 31 saves in net.

Quinnipiac returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 21 when they travel to Princeton, N.J. to take on Princeton University in a ECAC Hockey match-up set for 7 p.m. The Bobcats return home on Saturday, Nov. 24 when they host Princeton at 3:30 p.m. at the TD Banknorth Sports Center. That game will be televised live on New England Sports Network (NESN).
