Princeton Skates Past Dartmouth
PRINCETON -- Freshman Mike Kramer and senior Landis Stankievech
each had a goal and an assist to lead the Princeton men's hockey
team to a 5-2 win over Dartmouth on Friday afternoon in a game
aired live in front of a national television audience on ESPNU. The
win was Princeton's second in a row.
The Tigers put together an all-out effort and skated to a 2-0 lead
with a goal just past midway through each of the first two periods.
At 11:55 of the first period, sophomore Dan Bartlett scored his
third goal of the season and his second in as many game when he
redirected a pass from sophomore Cam MacIntyre into the Dartmouth
net. Sophomore Mark Magnowski, the reigning ECAC Hockey Player of
the Week also assisted on the goal.
Princeton made the lead 2-0 at 13:32 of the second period while
skating four aside. Freshman Cam Ritchie started the play in the
Princeton zone with an outlet pass to freshman Kevin Lohry. Lohry
and Stankeviech skated into the Dartmouth end 2 on 1 and
Stankievech redirected a centering pass from Lohry for his third
goal of the season and also his second goal in as many
contests.
Princeton led 2-0 entering the third and made the lead 3-0 nine
minutes into the third period when Kramer netted his second goal of
the season after receiving a pass from junior Lee Jubinville behind
the net. Dartmouth quickly countered to make the score 3-1, but
Kramer and Jubinville teamed up at 12:58 to assist on junior Brett
Wilson's fifth goal of the season, which capped a 3 on 1 rush into
the Dartmouth zone.
Dartmouth again scored to make the score 4-2, but senior Kyle Hagel
sealed the win with 42 seconds on the clock when he scored his
first goal of the season into an empty net. Stankievech assisted on
the goal.
Princeton sophomore goaltender Zane Kalemba made 22 saves for the
win, while Dartmouth netminder Mike Devine stopped 40 shots.
Princeton outshot Dartmouth 45-24, garnering 40 shots for the first
time this season.
Princeton is now 7-8 overall and 5-4 in ECAC Hockey. The Tigers
complete the weekend tomorrow night against Harvard.
