Dartmouth Suffers Defeat at Harvard

Box Score

Dartmouth had its first extra-man chance midway through the second stanza. A flurry of shots early in the opportunity had the Big Green getting three shots on net but Crimson netminder Kyle Richter was able to save every one. Joe Gaudet (Etna, N.H.) almost pulled his team ahead just after the power play expired but Richter got a leg out just in time as the puck skipped to the side of the net.

With Harvard on the power play Dartmouth made things interesting as J.T. Wyman (Wayzata, Minn.) stole a centering pass coming in on Richter to take a shot as Kyle Reeds (St. Louis, Mo.) for there for a rebound shot killing the extra-man advantage for the Crimson.

Taylor broke the scoreless tie at 9:44 of the third period off a shorthanded goal. Dartmouth went on the power play after a hitting from behind was called on Alex Meintel. Taylor picked up the puck at center ice as the Big Green was changing shifts. He came in on Mike Devine (Orchard Park, N.Y.) faking the netminder to the left, lifting the puck just over the line. The goal was just the fourth power play goal of the season that Dartmouth has given up.

The Big Green went on the power play again at 4:52, garnering five shots and one pipe but not the game tying strike needed. With time winding down Dartmouth had a faceoff in the Harvard end but Richter, the nation's top goalie, saved shots by Rob Pritchard (Burnaby, B.C.) and Nick Johnson (Calgary, Alta.) to keep Dartmouth off the scoreboard.

Devine finished with 32 saves while Richter made 27.

The Big Green will take to the ice again on Dec. 13, traveling back to Boston to take on Boston University in a 7:30 game. The contest will be televised on CN8.
